I attended this event today. The room was pretty packed, but that is a good thing!
I was really impressed with him. I think I pretty much agreed with everything he said. I like how he talked about family values, because I do believe that the family is important. I agree that we need to secure the border and not provide a path for those here illegally to gain citizenship. I agree that we need to spend more on defense; I really like his analogy about how nobody messes with the big strong 250 pound solid muscle man.
I was hoping to hear a little about his plan for taxes. He touched on it a little bit, talking about abolishing the death tax, and how we shouldn't be taxed on our income. I've been learning more about the Fair Tax lately and that to me seems like the way to go. And I am a little concerned about his stance on abortion. From what I understand, it wasn't too long ago that his stance was different than it is now. I do realize though that people can have sincere changes of heart.
I'd be interested in hearing what the rest of you College Republicans had to say. There seemed to be a good number there today.
